| The VIrtual coordinating center for Global
cOllaborative cardiovascUlar Research (VIGOUR) is a global
network of coordinating centers and investigators experienced
in the conduct of large cardiovascular clinical trials.
It arose from a collaboration of investigators participating
in the international Global Utilization of Streptokinase and
TPA for Occluded Coronary Arteries (GUSTO-I) trial, a 41,000-patient
study that began in 1990. The group's reach now extends to
main coordinating centers in North and South America, Europe,
and Australasia. Such a network ensures that even global trials
can receive the benefits of experienced local leadership.
