Cardiology
The DCRI is the world’s premier organization for conducting cardiovascular clinical trials. The expertise of our world-renowned faculty and operational experts spans the spectrum of cardiovascular disease. Our research experience in this area extends to all phases and types of trials, from initial, proof-of-concept studies to multinational registries and registration trials.

The Division began with the Duke Databank for Cardiovascular Disease (DDCD) in 1968, the world's largest and oldest cardiac database. This unique collaboration between clinicians, biostatisticians, and data specialists has both improved the care of patients at Duke and around the world and has hastened and improved trial designs, through more precise estimates of sample sizes and event rates.

Access is the key to successful research. Our cardiology trials span 5 continents and more than 1000 experienced sites. Our longstanding relations with national and international cardiovascular research networks provide the experience

needed to satisfy global regulatory requirements, from initial concepts to implementation to changing practice. These relations also mean that a trial's results can affect the care of all patients, not just regional populations.

From Phase I to IV comparative trials to outcomes research to postapproval studies, only the DCRI combines practicing cardiologists and full-service operational capabilities for hard-hitting, efficient research that improves the practice of medicine.
