FACULTY POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Assistant or Associate Professor
(posted April 27, 2009)

The Center for Clinical and Genetic Economics (CCGE) at Duke University is seeking candidates for a faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level. Established in 1999 in the Duke Clinical Research Institute, the CCGE evaluates costs, outcomes, and quality of life in clinical trials; studies physician and patient decision making; and conducts health services research in such areas as access to care, geographic variation, and managed care. The group also explores important issues in research accountability, bioethics, and the implications of new technologies for drug development and health services delivery.

We are seeking an individual with strong interest in health services research, especially comparative studies using administrative data sets. The candidate should have a doctoral degree in health services research, health economics, or a related field. The position requires interdisciplinary interaction with clinical investigators, project leaders, statisticians, postdoctoral fellows, and government and industry sponsors. The successful candidate will be encouraged to undertake self-directed research but will also be expected to contribute substantially to research initiated by other investigators. The position is an excellent opportunity to work in a productive, collaborative, and interdisciplinary environment across a range of therapeutic areas. Successful candidates will demonstrate the potential to attract significant funding to support their research (in collaboration with other faculty).

Responsibilities include writing proposals for industry- and government-sponsored studies, managing multiple projects simultaneously, directing research teams, and mentoring staff and postdoctoral fellows. Formal teaching opportunities are also available.

Qualified individuals should submit a curriculum vitae, a letter of application, and three professional references to Kevin A. Schulman, MD, Duke Clinical Research Institute, PO Box 17969, Durham, NC 27715.

Duke University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
